I don't despair.
I see superman every day!
He's the guy up early on the weekend, taking his kid to some kind of event or sport.
He's out, or home, every day making a living to provide for others (his own and maybe even not his own).
He's steps aside and allows me, with my cart overflowing with children and victuals, to go in front of him at the checkout though he only has a small basket of items. While waiting he plays peek with my baby and makes small talk with my toddler. Really! True story!
Supermen are all around us. They are quiet and incognito. They don't draw attention to themselves and even (like the proverbial Clark Kent) silently absorb the punches our society takes at them.
Yet, inside is a strength, drive and way of doing things that saves our whole society, indeed our whole world, certainly my world.
My world would crumble like the planet Krypton with out the strength, support and guidance of my superhero dad, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, brother's in laws, husband and son. Not to mention the many influential male teachers, co workers, pastors, doctors, and friends who shape my life by simply giving what they have and doing what they must. Our superheroes keep the ordinary lovely and love extraordinarily.
Thanks Supermen, for stepping up, for being brave, for doing what needs to be done and for gently carrying us to great heights.
